Overview

KPJ Ampang Specialist Hospital is a major private healthcare facility operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The hospital runs a 1,100 RT installed chiller capacity (550 RT on duty) by Trane, serving comfort cooling across clinical wards, operating theatres, laboratories, and public areas. The operating environment imposes strict requirements: temperature must be held between 20–25°C, relative humidity maintained at 40–65% across general areas, and certain zones such as operating theatres and labs require stricter control at 35–60% humidity to prevent fungal infection risk. MSSB deployed Mi-ACE in June 2017, making KPJ Ampang one of the earliest and longest-tenured Mi-ACE installations in the healthcare sector. The deployment demonstrates that AI-driven chiller optimisation can operate reliably within the most stringent building environment requirements in any industry.

• Year 1: Staged savings approach to 6% average annual savings achieved safely
• Year 2: Savings grew to 6–8% as system learned facility demand patterns
• Year 3 onwards: Reached and sustained >10% savings consistently
• YTD Savings Average (lifetime): 12.3%
• Critical operating conditions maintained throughout: Operating theatres and labs held at 35–60% RH for infection prevention compliance
• System has operated continuously since June 2017 as one of MSSB's longest active deployments
